Meeting Minutes

 

Members present:  Gregg Gropel, George Langford, Patty Evans, Mike Jarchow, Fr. Tom, Deb Goebel, and Steve Heitkamp

Members absent:  John Serie, excused: Pat Saum, Dan Nath and Mary McLaughlin

 

The meeting was called to order by President, George Langford and began with a prayer from Fr. Tom.   The meeting minutes of July 10, 2007 were approved.  A motion was made by Mike to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Patty.  Motion carried.  The agenda was approved.

 

Old Business

A)    ÒLiving Your StrengthsÓ books – Was tabled to next meeting

B)     Church Lighting - The new track lighting has been ordered and McClure Electric will be installing.

C)     Fallfest Õ07 – Fr. Tom gave a detailed report on all the activity planned for Oct. 14. Every parish family is expected to lend a hand.

 

New Business

A)    Pastoral Council Survey for the Diocese – Discussed and completed the     survey to help the Bishop prepare his next pastoral letter to the Diocese.  The Bishop wants one representative from each Deanery to attend the October 15 Adrian Deanery Meeting.  George Langford will attend.

 

Reports

A)     Liturgy (Dan and Fr. Tom) – Looking for a new leader for Liturgical arts committee.

B)     Faith Formation (Mike) – Katie Baustian is doing an excellent job. Catechists were recruited to fill all positions.  A motion was made by Gregg to send an expression of thanks, it was seconded by Steve. Blessing of Catechists was on Sept.16.

C)     Knights of Columbus (John) – The stone cemetery sign has been ordered.  The Fish Fries will begin in November.  There will be no breakfasts this year.  Instead, the Knights decided to try a lunch menu to be served 3-4 times. The schedule will be in the bulletin. The KC 50th Anniversary will be celebrated on Oct. 21.

D)     LCCW (Patty) – New VP is Norma Stewart.  LCCW donated the carpeting for the Sanctuary floor. Sept. 30 will be CCW Sunday and the parish will be presented with a symbolic check representing the donated hours of the women to the parish. The CCW will prepare and host the Anointing Mass luncheon on Oct. 2.

E)      Finance Council (Mary) – No report.

F)      Social Ministry Committee (Fr. Tom) – Many activities are planned and will be posted in the bulletin.

G)     PastorÕs Report – Parish store grand opening will be this weekend.  Dee Buss is the coordinator.  The store will be open 3 days, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday morning.  There are 4-5 candidates for RCIA that will begin in late Oct.  For Adult Faith Formation, Bible Study has resumed. We might offer an on-line retreat opportunity this winter. The renewal of stewardship (time, talent and treasure) will be on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4. Fr. presented news of a very large Pipestone rock for the parish in memory of Edsel and Elaine and recommended it be placed on the Parish Green (formerly called the WigginÕs Corner).

H)     Administrator – No report.

 

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 8:00 pm.  Fr. Tom led us in our closing prayer.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 pm.
